TVNewser has learned Donny Deutsch, who'd been filling in on the 3pmET hour this week on MSNBC, won't be anchoring for the rest of the week after a segment yesterday seemed to criticize his colleague Keith Olbermann.

This week, Deutsch has been calling his show "American the Angry." Yesterday, he played a clip of various radio and TV talkers in all their anger -- including Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann.

Adding insult to insult, Deutsch's guest, radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, then called Olbermann and Ed Schultz, "the biggest hate mongers on television."

How dumb can a guy get?

There are people, like Bill Moyers or Jon Stewart, who would make a case that Olbermann's and Schultz's rants are counterproductive. But you can't get on your soapbox while you are filling in for another anchor and attack the MSNBC's attractions. And isn't Donny Deutsch a bit of a blowhard himself?

It's kind of like stepping in feces while hurling feces.

Dumb.

They should just bring Schuster back. They can obviously do worse.

I'm with you, Gul. Donny D is an annoying shout-monger himself. Olbermann may get lathered up during his commentaries, but his show never degenerates into the shout-fests that you see on Fox or even the Sunday morning shows.

Olbermann is a HATE MONGER, he never has anything nice to say about anyone. He's been calling Immelt names for years. Google>>> Olbermann lies you will be shocked.

Love watching Olbermann's show. Tells it like it is and the right just hate that. Calls all the right wing fear/hate mongers all the time.

To me Olberman is a comedian. He looks totally like he is acting with faux indignation when he is ranting about anything that does not worship Obama. I can not take him seriously. Sorry if that offends you but to me he looks like a made up comedy show. Especially his left wing wacko guests. He gets some real winners.

Olbermann's show is inconsistent, depending on what is driving the news (liberal blogs) on a given day. When he is pursuing a good story with good guests from his stable of regulars, the show is good. If he is just name calling and trying to reinforce what idiots Palin and Bachmann are, then the show is not as good. I guess you could call it mean spirited infotainment, but he is usually returning salvos from the right rather than initiating them out of the blue.

Olbermann's definitely not in the tank for Obama anymore. If you think that, you probably only sample his show occasionally rather than watch it consistently. Olbermann was very critical of the health care bill. He's very critical of how the war efforts and anti terrorism policies continue the Bush policies without all that much change. He's critical of broken campaign promises.

The criticism of the show and MSNBC that is valid, is that they waste far too much time on the redundant spotlighting of what idiots Michael Steele, Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are. It does in fact crowd out opportunities for explaining the issues to the public. Michael Steele is an idiot. Ok. got it. Can we now drill down on how the financial reform bill is shaping up? Is it getting strengthened or weakened? Should we support it or oppose it?

They hit the important stuff now and then, but not often enough in my book.

What's the point of Keith Olberman?
What's the Big Idea of pulling Donny Deutsch?

I'll watch Donny Deutsch or Tina Brown over Olberman anytime. His program's topics are just a re-hash of the far more engaging Chris Matthews.

If Shultz and Olberman are supposed to be bombastic antidotes to Bill O'Reilly forget it. O'Reilly's got obnoxious down to a fine art. O'Reilly is the man we love to hate. He even tames race-baiter Al Sharpton.
